ZHANG DAQIAN (1899-1983) Temple on the Cliff Scroll, mounted on cardboard and framed, ink and colour on gold paper 23.8 x 26.8 cm. (9 3⁄8 x 10 ½ in.) Inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist Dated sixty-second year (of the Republic), guichou year (1973) NOTE: There is a handwritten number and title on the back of the frame, along with a label from A Galeria in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The frame is similar to those used for other works exhibited in Zhang Daqian’s solo exhibition at A Galeria in 1973, suggesting that this painting may have been part of that exhibition.
