Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist Dedicated to Xinjia NOTE: Zhang Daqian remarks in the inscription that the original calligraphy, including poems written for his friend Wen Zhenzhai, was done over two decades ago in the Garden of Eight Virtue in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil. It remained in the artist's collection until 1981, when he further inscribed the work to dedicate it to Zhang Xinjia 'for safekeeping', possibly when the uncle and niece worked on the artist's papers together in Taiwan. An important manuscript that Zhang Daqian kept for twenty years, it is a rare document in the artist's practice.
