Edward Lear (1812-1888) Selmun, Malta inscribed and dated 'Selmun. Malta/8-9.AM - but "make it"/6 or 7 24 March 1866' (lower right) and numbered '(253)' (lower right), and with scattered colour notes, and further inscribed '48/Long/Lowest' (on the reverse) pencil, pen and brown ink and watercolour heightened with touches of bodycolour, on buff paper, unframed 6 7/8 x 20 5/8 in. (17.5 x 52.4 cm.)
