Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) Red Composition signed 'Jackson Pollock' (lower right); signed again and dated 'Pollock 46' (on the reverse) oil on Masonite 19 x 23 ¾ in. (48.3 x 60.3 cm.) Painted in 1946. This lot is the subject of a petition filed with the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Education challenging that Department’s approval of the work’s deaccession under New York regulations. The consignor has decided to proceed with auctioning the lot but finalization of the sale will not occur until the challenge is resolved.
