Signed, with one seal of the artist One collector’s seal NOTE: The present owner is the daughter-in-law of Li Ping Shan (?-1979), who inherited the work in the 1960s. Li was a leading Shanghai entrepreneur in the marine and cargo industry. According to the present owner, Li received the painting in the 1940s from his close friend Jefferson Young (1914-2001), prominent retail magnate and founder of Da Da Department Store. Young was a renowned collector of Chinese paintings and the founding publisher of The Chancellor magazine.
