Max Beckmann (1884-1950) Frontal Self-Portrait with House Gable in Background (Hofmaier 125 II.B.b.) drypoint, 1918, on wove paper, signed in pencil, numbered 11/30, a good impression of the second, final state, from the edition of one hundred on this paper (Günther Franke numbered some impressions as if from an edition of thirty), published by R. Piper, Munich, probably 1922, the full sheet, a deckle edge at right, pale mount staining, two vertical 25 mm. tears at the upper sheet edge, the upper and lower sheet edges previously folded back, now flattened, the subject and surrounding margins in good condition P. 308 x 256 mm., S. 534 x 375 mm.
