FRENCH SCHOOL, AFTER TISCHBEIN AND VINCENT A pair of miniatures: Claude Marc Antoine d'Apchon (1721-1783), Archbishop of Auch, Gascony, in blue silk ceremonial robes, white-bordered black bands, gold crucifix, seated in a green-upholstered wooden chair, holding a black ceremonial hat, wearing a gold ring, his other hand resting on a leather-bound book on a desk with other books; together with Elizabeth d'Apchon (1713-1766), in fur-bordered blue dress, tied blue ribbons on front and sleeves, frilled white cap with blue ribbon, seated at a table, her elbow resting on an open book on ivory 2 5/8 in. (67 mm.) diam., gilt-metal mounts The backing card on the reverse of the former is inscribed 'Claude Marc Antoine D'Apchon Archevêque d'Auch. né en 1721.
