FRENCH SCHOOL, 18TH CENTURY A young gentleman aged twenty-one, formerly called Louis XVI (1754-1793), King of France 1774-1792, in lilac coat, white waistcoat, powdered hair dressed en queue bearing false signature and date 'Vestier / 1775' (lower right) on ivory oval, 1.7/8 in. (50 mm.) high, ormolu frame with foliate surround and surmounted with foliate wreath A paper label on the reverse reads 'Vestier / Louis XVI / a 21ans / DXV'.
