Inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist Both dedicated to Madame Renjiu NOTE: Madame Tan Jen Chiu (1908–2002), a native of Xinhui, Guangdong, graduated from Yenching University in Beijing with a major in Sociology. Following the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War, she sought refuge in Hong Kong. Madame Tan held several prominent positions in Hong Kong, including Director of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), Supervisor and Board Member of True Light Girls’ School, and Lecturer at New Asia College. She was also appointed a Justice of the Peace by the Hong Kong government. A passionate enthusiast of Chinese painting, Madame Tan regularly met with artists to paint and engage in discussions on art. This album is presented as a gift by many of her artist friends, including Ding Yanyong, Zhao Shao’ang, and Huang Junbi.
